High Performance Program

Welcome to "the first step in the USA Volleyball Athlete Pipeline"!

The Carolina Region High Performance (HP) Program provides an opportunity for players (boys and girls) at all levels to be trained by highly skilled coaches, using the methods and techniques which earned our Olympic Teams Gold and Silver medals during the Beijing Olympics in 2008. It is our goal to bring a competitive, productive and challenging training environment to every player in the Carolina Region who wishes to Perform at a Higher level.

If you have more questions on the Carolina Region HP Program, contact Sheila Holloway, our HP Program Director - hp@carolinaregionvb.org

HP Program Athlete Database

In past seasons, we have created and maintained a separate Athlete Database for participants to fill out before attending their first HP clinic of the season. We will not have a separate HP Athlete Database this season as most of the information we collected can already be accessed in the Carolina Region Registration System. We are asking all High Performance Clinic attendees to log in to their Carolina Region Membership Account and make sure all your contact information is current and up-to-date. Also, please go to the "Other Info" tab at the top of your record. Once you select "Other Info", more tabs will appear about half-way down the screen. Please click on the "Player Info" and "Personal Info" tabs and fill in any information you are able. This will help both the High Performance Staff as well as your Club Coaches (Club administrators will have access to this also so can use this information for uniform/apparel orders, etc.). If any of your information changes during the season, you can log in to your record any time to keep it updated. REMINDER: You must be a current member of the Carolina Region to participate in HP Clinics, so be sure your status is "Current" before attending.

High Performance Program Coaches Policies

  • All coaches must be at least 21 years of age, a registered member of the Carolina Region, and have a curent passed RVA Background Screen.
  • All coaches must meet the CAP certification requirements established for their position.
  • Each coaching staff will include at least one (1) member that is of the same sex as the athletes.
  • There will be no recruiting allowed. If a coach is found to be recruiting, he or she will be immediately removed from the program and all stipends will be held until a full investigation is made (in which case the stipend may be reduced or withheld). The Head of the Delegation at the beginning of each clinic and the camp will introduce each coach. The introduction will include the coach’s name and college, club, high school or any other volleyball organization. That will be the only time the coach’s affiliation is to be mentioned during their involvement with the Carolina Region High Performance Program. The coaches are here to work for the High Performance Program. It is not a recruiting opportunity!
  • Each coach will wear clothing provided or approved by the Carolina Region and USA Volleyball. No college, club, school or other non-approved clothing is to be worn.
  • Each coach must understand the USA Volleyball Pipeline and work towards helping USA Volleyball and the Carolina Region reach their goals as well as assist in the development of athletes that meet the criteria that USA Volleyball has established.
  • The Carolina Region and USA Volleyball will work towards having each coaching staff made up of coaches from different clubs, colleges or high schools.
  • Coaches will not participate in, require, or condone (failure to take action when in possession of information) any act considered to be an offense under federal, state or local laws or ordinances.
  • Coaches will not supply or condone (failure to take action when in possession of information) the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, fireworks, ammunitions, firearms, weapons or any items or materials that may be used as a weapon or which may be a hazard or harmful to others.
  • A registered coach must be present at all clinics, camps, practices, competitions and travel. The coach is responsible for the moral and ethical atmosphere and practices that occur during such activities.
  • Coaches must inform both their athletes and the athlete’s parents or guardians that they must sign a release waiver of liability before they may become a member of the Carolina Region.
  • Coaches must inform both their athletes and the athlete’s parents or guardians that they risk bodily injury, including paralysis, dismemberment and death, as well as a loss or damage of property.
  • Coaches must accept the awesome responsibility and incredible opportunity to positively influence young people through the lifetime sport of volleyball.
  • A coach must develop his or her program in compliance with the rules and policies of the Carolina Region, USA Volleyball, and Carolina Region High Performance Program. Each coach must be aware of the North Carolina State High School, NCAA, NAIA, and NJCA rules and adopt them as they pertain to programs, coaches, and student athletes.
  • Coaches will work with and develop every member of the team, not just the starters.
  • Coaches shall not allow, encourage, condone or require any behavior that threatens a player’s High School Association, USA Volleyball, NCAA, NAIA or NJCA eligibility.
  • Coaches must wear clothing approved by the Carolina Region and USA Volleyball (enforcement is the responsibility of the Head of Delegation). No logo clothing may be worn, with the exception of those items given to the coaches by the Carolina Region or USA Volleyball.
  • Coaches must conform their coaching styles, personalities and references to that of Carolina Region, USA Volleyball and the High Performance Program.
  • Coaches must understand and encourage the USA Volleyball Athlete Pipeline, and the policies and procedures that pertain to this program.
  • Coaches must read these policies, sign the junior coaches code of ethics commitment form, and have the required CAP certification level for the position they seek. A violation of the coach’s code of ethics or certification requirements may result in sanctions against the coach. These sanctions may extend to loss of eligibility of the coach.
